OUTPOURING OF LOVE, SUPPORT FOR WENDALL ANSCHUTZ
Friends have reported a huge outpouring of support and love for Kansas City TV icon Wendall Anschutz, who is in grave condition at KU Medical Center.
At this point no visitors are permitted, but the family says e-mails of well wishes can be sent to his son Curtis Anschutz at
[email protected] (no "z" at the end). The family (wife, Nita; daughter, Sirena; and son, Curtis) may be able to read words of encouragement. Reportedly Wendall can sometimes hear and understand things being said to him.
In the meantime, all prayers are appreciated.

UPDATE (01-04-2010):
Wendall Anschutz is reportedly heavily sedated and his family is discouraging visits.  Please keep him in your prayers.
(His former station, KCTV5, has now done a story)

TV ICON WENDALL ANSCHUTZ GRAVELY ILL
We have learned that Kansas City TV legend Wendall Anschutz, who recently had two surgeries at KU Medical Center in a courageous battle with throat cancer, is in extremely ill condition.
Reportedly Wendall, one of the most respected and well-liked media members in history, has requested that additional treatment be discontinued.
Wendall spent 35 years on Kansas City television, most of them as an anchor at KCTV5 where he started in 1966. He anchored the news from 1969 until his retirement in 2001 at the age of 63.
He suffered a stroke in 1989 and turned to painting. His artwork is sold at local galleries in the Kansas City area (http://www.anschutzart.com/).
In 2008, he teamed with radio legend Don Fortune as part of WHB-810's "Legends of Radio Week."
