It’s not a move that is often seen in journalistic circles where a reporter goes from the business press to an alternative weekly, but Steve Vockrodt is going to make the jump next week.

Vockrodt announced via Twitter today (below) that he is bailing as the real estate and economic development reporter at the Kansas City Business Journal to take a new job at The Pitch, Kansas City’s alternative weekly.

Vockrodt has been at KCBJ for six years, starting at the business weekly in June 2007 as its legal affairs reporter. He was named to his most recent position in September 2011.

He was awarded a BS degree from the University of Kansas in 2005.
