“A slurring Diane Sawyer shocked viewers Tuesday night during ABC News’ election coverage, prompting many to wonder if the star newswoman was drunk on live television,” the New York Daily News is reporting today.
“ Propped up on her elbows, the normally straight-laced anchor of the nightly “ABC World News” rambled through her sentences, laughing and using exaggerated hand movements.”
ABC refused to comment, but some sort of explanation will have to be given soon as social media has gone crazy over her performance: “And Diane Sawyer declares tonight’s winner is … chardonnay!” one Twitter user wrote.

I read that the power went out on set at the height of election coverage. She may have been acting out her frustration or was just plain freaked..when everything is written for you and loaded into a TelePrompTer, having to ad lib is an alien idea.
