Soccer is one of those sports that looks easy when you watch it on TV. After all, you just run around and kick the ball and it eventually goes into the goal.

Actually, it is much more than that and members of various print, radio and TV outlets in Kansas City learned that quite dramatically Saturday night in the Missouri Comets Media Night soccer match.

The match was played during halftime of the Comets and the Syracuse Silver Knights match in Independence won 17-9 by the Comets.

According to a blog posting by “The Fake Ned Yost,” the media’s Red team jumped to a 2-0 lead, but the game ended in a 2-2 deadlock.

None of the players are likely to be asked to participate in the next World Cup.

The biggest surprise may have involved 96.5 The Buzz’s Danny Boi, the Blue team goalie who finished the match with bloodied knees and a broken finger.
