Just when you think TV has hit a new low, it seems as if the bar is lowered.
This time full credit should go to Scot Haney, meteorologist at Hartford, CT station WFSB, who actually ate cat vomit on the air during a broadcast.
He not only did it, but felt it was necessary to share that tidbit with viewers.
First, Haney, who is an icon in Hartford, felt something on the floor with his feet and thought it was Grape Nuts that had possibly fallen out of his mouth earlier (the set is his breakfast table?).
He reached down to the floor and picked up the dirty “cereal” that he had been stepping on and simply popped it into his mouth (who over the age of two eats stuff off the floor?).
Haney then started making cute faces and announced the stuff he was eating was soggy and “tastes like shoes.”
His anchors laughed, but were clearly sickened by his disgusting antics (but seemingly not necessarily surprised).
Later on as part of a “Trending Now” segment Haney felt he need to share with viewers that he had eaten cat vomit that had been on his shoes (are there cats in the studio or did he bring it from home?).
“I ate cat vomit right here on television,” announced Haney, who went through a variety of goofy faces and then held more vomit in his hands to show viewers exactly what he had eaten off the floor.
Maybe Hunter S. Thompson said it best when talking about TV: It’s a “cruel and shallow money trench through the heart of the journalism industry, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs, for no good reason.”
