The Pitch, Kansas City’s alternative weekly, has introduced a new, cleaner look with its current edition on newsstands now.
“We wanted an updated look that was all our own, getting away from the Village Voice Media template that all of that chain’s papers share,” Pitch editor Justin Kendall told Bottom Line.
Kendall says he can’t remember the last time the paper underwent a redesign, but it has been several years.
“With us no longer being with Village Voice Media it allowed us to break free,” he says. “It was long overdue.”
The Pitch started as a music publication in 1980. More than 258,000 people read the paper every month, picking it up every week at 1,800 locations throughout a seven-county region.
The publication is owned by Nashville-based SouthComm, Inc.
