Amanda Wilkins, 36, Assistant Managing Editor/Online at the Kansas City Star, will be leaving the newspaper in May for a new position with the online team at the Dallas Morning News, sources have told Bottom Line Communications.
The Star did not respond to a request to comment.
Wilkins has held a series of positions with the Star since joining the McClatchy-owned paper in 1998 as a sports copy editor. She was named assistant sports copy chief in 2000 and about five years later she was promoted to news slot editor.
In 2006, she was named newsroom copy chief and web editor, and in September 2010, senior Web editor. She was named to her current position last November.
A University of North Texas graduate, she had been with the suburban weekly Garland News for 16 months before joining the Star.
