In media training one thing Bottom Line preaches over and over to clients is TO ALWAYS ASSUME THE MICROPHONE IS ON. From the minute you enter a TV or radio studio just assume you are being recorded.
Unfortunately, some people in the media business frequently forget that golden rule. Even in a major market like Detroit.
The latest was WDIV “Local 4 News” reporter Lauren Podell, who had some problems with her IFB prior to her live shot.
As the anchors cut to her she was caught talking to her producer and blurted out “I can’t get this f-king in there!!”
Credit to the anchor at the NBC affiliate who quickly apologized for Podell’s language.
Most people posting to Podell’s Facebook page were nice about the gaffe. After all, Detroit has bigger problems than reporters dropping f-bombs.

CLASSY BROAD
What the reporter said wasn’t a gaffe. She said exactly what she meant in exactly the way she meant it.
What a classy broad!
