Just when you think you have seen it all, something new pops up. Or falls down.

That was certainly the case when Salt Lake City’s KUTV reporter Brooke Graham simply passed out during a live segment this week. She was asking two cross country ski instructors to show her some basis when she fell straight back.

It was a terrifying sight to behold.

In all our years of media training we never discussed what clients should do when when a reporter passes out during an interview. To his credit, one instructor immediately tried to help her and proceeded to do the interview kneeling next to her on the ground.

Amazingly, Graham managed to continue the interview as the camera continued to roll and simply stated that she had “slipped and fell.” (Note: Her shooter never went to help her, but continued filming.)

Once comment on TV Spy was very critical of the station.

“Is there a director in the house? What the Hell? How long was he going to stay on that live shot with the talent on the ground and the guests left without a host? Just plain bad direction. I hope this woman is ok though.”

She later posted on her blog, “[T]his is not the first time I have passed out cold. I am known to faint any time I am in high altitudes and get too cold. So this week I plan to go get checked out by a doctor and get to the bottom of it. In the meantime, we can all laugh at the craziness of the situation! I have laughed many times watching this video so don’t feel bad if it makes you giggle.”
