It certainly was not your typical death notice.

An obituary for Loren G. (Sam) Lickteig, 81, in the Kansas City Star noted that the longtime Grandview, MO, resident died from “complications from MS and heartbreaking disappointment caused by the Kansas City Chiefs football team.”

Lickteig’s daughter, Jennifer, told a local media outlet her dad was a longtime Chiefs fan.

“My dad was such a comedian,” she said. “He loved the Chiefs, so we had to let him have the last word.”

While condolences go out to the Lickteig family, they can take at least take some solace in the fact he did not have to suffer through Sunday’s humiliating 28-6 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals for the team’s seventh straight loss.

“Gives a new meaning to “a die hard” fan,” noted a commenter on Facebook.

The Chiefs are now 1-9 for the season. RIP Mr. Lickteig.

    A BROKEN HEART
The Chumps have hardly been “the Cardiac Kids” this season, having rallied to win only once and that required overtime. But they’ve sure broken a lot of hearts along the way, including apparently that of Mr. Lickteig. Maybe Mr. Hunt will send the family a sympathy card … but don’t hold your breath.

    GLIMPSE OF MR. LICKTEIG
This reminds me of Leslie Nielsen’s headstone that said ‘let’r rip’. Nice of his family to give us a glimpse of what a character Mr. Lickteig was.
