Jayme Monacelli, award-winning executive producer for KMBZ’s Kansas City Morning News (AM/FM) the past 4 1/2 years with E.J. Becker and Ellen Schenk, did her final show with the Entercom KC station this morning.
No explanation was given on the air and she did not respond to a request for information.
Her duties on the show that airs from 5-9 a,m, weekdays, included overseeing the content of the news-wheel-style show. That included writing and/or editing all local and national news content, structuring all news blocks, updating social networking sites and the KMBZ website, booking interviews, and making decisions about our coverage of breaking news stories.
She also anchored newscasts on KMBZ and reported during special coverage such as elections or severe weather.
Monacelli, an Illinois State University graduate, joined KMBZ in August 2007 after nine years at WJBC-AM in Bloomington, IL.
She has won numerous Edward R. Murrow and Associated Press awards for her work.
