Darrin McDonald, who once served as general sales manager at KSMO Television in Kansas City for about three years, has been named the new Vice President/General Manager at KCTV/KSMO effective immediately, according to Paul Karpowicz, Local Media Group President for parent company Meredith Broadcasting.
McDonald (Twitter photo below) replaces VP/GM Bobby Totsch, who was let go by the station (LINK) in October.
An Oklahoma State University graduate, he most recently was the VP/General Manager at Meredith’s Las Vegas Fox station KVVU-TV since August 2008.
McDonald has 24 years of broadcasting experience and has worked in a variety of roles including VP/Station Manager, General Sales Manager and Director of Sales at various locations around the country. He was at KSMO before his move to KVVU in 2008.
He began his career as a General Sales Manager with Clear Channel in 1990. After 10 years there he joined Pappas Telecasting for two years before moving to KSMO.
