KMBC continues to lead at every time period after 13 days of the 20-day November TV Sweeps period, but the ABC affiliate is finding itself in a battle at two key news periods.

So far the most interesting ratings periods of the day involves a dogfight between KMBC and WDAF-Fox 4 at the 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. new periods, with the two stations currently in a dead heat.

At 6 a.m. KMBC and Fox 4 are deadlocked with ratings of 4.9 with identical 17 shares. At 6 p.m. they have identical 6.2/11 ratings. While Fox 4 has perennially been strong at the morning hours, the fact the station is doing so well at 6 p.m. is a surprise.

Probably the biggest surprise might be the mediocre numbers being posted by KSHB across the board. The NBC affiliate entered the sweeps without a general manager and news director and previous momentum generated in former sweeps seems to have evaporated. KSHB is last or second-last in every time period.

KCTV, which dumped its general manager Bobby Totsch right before sweeps kicked off, is not faring much better.

As reported by Bottom Line exclusively earlier today, KMBC delivered some strong ratings for last night’s KC Chiefs-Steelers Monday Night Football game.

    KSHB IS SUFFERING
Well when you don’t have a general manager or a news director, and when the two that you just had got the job done but seemingly got canned for apparently doing a good job, and when corporate is taking nearly half a year to find them (the station) some replacements, and won’t promote anyone from within the station by now (seemingly indicating massive incompetence) then you’re gonna have a hard time!

Speaking about that lack of internal promotion by now, I feel as if they all should be fearing for their jobs right now, because surely, SURELY, if any of them were good at it, Scripps would’ve upped them by now, but they haven’t, so I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they’re waiting to can some more people over there once they get at least a news director or a general manager, but this wait is now starting to get ridiculous and KSHB is suffering the price for it.

Someone from KSHB should ALSO tell Scripps that them deciding not to renew the syndication contracts for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! (which channel 41 was lucky enough to have actually kept) has nearly completely destroyed their 5 and 6pm shows.
