Kim Byrnes, who joined WDAF-FOX4 in 1997 and has been serving as a weekend anchor and reporter, will assume new duties as the weekday co-anchor for the 9 a.m. and noon news at the station, according to Kansas City Radio & TV (link).
Byrnes will be taking over the duties of Stefan Chase, who left the station in April under odd circumstances. Katie Ferrell, who joined the station in June 2011, will take over Byrne’s weekend morning anchor slot.
Byrnes has also worked as an anchor, reporter and photographer in Springfield, Missouri and Pittsburg, Kansas. She began with FOX4 as a general assignment reporter and was part-time at the station for a period of time.
Prior to FOX 4, Ferrell spent four years at KHAS-TV in Hastings and at KOMU in Columbia, MO. She is a University of Missouri broadcast journalism graduate.

OK…read about Kim Byrnes being named a new co-anchor. Does that mean Nick Vasos remains as co-anchor at noon? I’m continually amazed that they keep him as an anchor. He always has trouble reading stories and finds himself stumbling through.

Kim Byrnes is the Best! She relates to the audience, and the audience to her, as well as anyone in local TV. She deserves this promotion, and it is long overdue.

Um, Kim graduated from Kansas NOT Missouri
Where did it say she was a KU grad? The story said Katie Ferrell was an MU grad. If Kim is a KU grad she doesn’t mention it on her profile.
