KCSP-610 AM recently announced a series of line-up changes on the sports talk station in an effort to topple long-time leader WHB-810 AM.
If the goal was to scare WHB the tactic did not seem to work, particularly with long-time afternoon host/owner Kevin Kietzman.
“I’ve been told this is now the 24th different show ‘Between the Lines’ has competed against the past 17 years on several different stations,” Kietzman told Bottom Line. “I take them all very seriously as I’m just smart enough to know that nothing is forever.
“But we work pretty hard at this and our listeners hold us to pretty high standards. That seems to be a very good combination for us.”
While several hosts over the years at KCSP have tried to make it a personal battle between hosts such as Soren Petro and Kietzman, that doesn’t seem to be the case with KK.
“I don’t know the new hosts at that station very well and don’t really know much about how anyone else should do a show,” he says. “We’ll just keep doing what we do and hopefully that will work out for us.”
HEAD START?
I would love to have known if he regretted going on vacation during the first week of 610s new show in his time slot.
Seems like he was giving them a head start.

well, in either case, you’re not exactly getting top tier talent. those shows are tough to listen to. i’d almost rather hear dana wright’s cackle. almost.

NEW TEAM AWFUL
If you can’t beat KK when he’s arrogantly whining about the Chiefs not taking a QB with their first choice then you might as well give up now. And give up is what the new team should do. They are awful. I like Jayice as an analyst but he has been awful with a couple of different afternoon teams. My pattern is to spend ten minutes with both and then move to Catholic Radio1090. It is much better than both and far better than 980.

Why should he be nervous? He’s beaten them all and won.

Why should KK be nervous?
CHECK RATINGS
Every dog has it day. Check the ratings for 6a-7p. The two stations are neck and neck with 610 beating HB in the younger demos and HB winning in the older demos. With m25-44 they are dead even at a 3.5 share. The HB arrogance will eventually bring them down.
Not sure how anyone can check the ratings since WHB is not an Arbitron member.
SAD SITUATION
Who cares. I’m not sure which is sadder. The guys that have to talk about nationally irrelevant franchises all day or the people that listen to them.
