In a million years there is no way male anchors or reporters could do a “fun” story about University of Kansas female fans showing pictures of their breasts on the Internet.
But, somehow it is appropriate for KCTV female personalities to do the story?
Wouldn’t this normally be sexism at its worst? Utter objectification of women? Using females as sex objects? The horror of it!!
But veteran anchor Karen Fuller didn’t seem to feel that way as she introduced a piece done by Amy Anderson of (mostly) women flashing their boobs for KU. The story is headlined “KU fans put best breasts forward with #kuboobs.”
“#kuboobs started when we were playing Missouri at the end of February … and I thought they needed a little extra help,” said Tiffany Kent in the piece.
Her Twitter account is “mommyloveswine” where she refers to herself as a “dirty-mouthed vixen.” And while she notes on the site “We do not promote nudity” (wink, wink) topless photos are now appearing.
Kent seems to think that flashing her breasts is her unique way of motivating the team.
On the KCTV story on its station Web page it gives this silly message “Warning: This story may not be appropriate for children.”
At this point ratings leader KMBC has not done a boob story at all, while FOX4 has posted a story on its site with a variety of photos (LINK). KSHB also did a story on its site, but not on the air.
It should be interesting if KCTV enters this story for an Emmy.
