Cumulus-owned classic hits station KCMO-94.9 FM continued to lead the March Arbitron Portable People Meter (PPM) ratings for Kansas City radio stations with a 7.1 rating, its best dating back to last November. In February it logged a 6.7 rating.
Led by veteran morning man Dick Wilson, KCMO finished comfortably ahead of classic rocker KCFX, also a Cumulus station, which was second at 6.5.
2012 has not been a good year so far for KCFX, which was the KC ratings leader the last three ratings periods in 2011, but is slumping this year.
Entercom’s active rock station KQRC dropped from a 6.5 rating in February to a 6.0 in March to finish third, ahead of Wilks-owned KMXV-FM, a Top 40 station, which came in with a 5.4 rating.
In sports talk KCSP finished overall as the 15th rated radio station in the market with a 3.0 rating for March, which was a slight increase from February’s 2.8. The station should see its annual ”Kansas City Royals” bump as the team’s flagship station unless the team continues its losing ways.
As of April 16, Arbitron has announced it will no longer provide ratings information for any radio stations that do not subscribe to its ratings service. That means sports talk leader WHB is no longer included in the ratings since the Union Broadcasting station has never been a subscriber.

Were anymore ratings released beyond what is posted…such as the top 12 or 15 stations in the latest results? Just curious to know where
KMBZ (AM&FM) and KCMO-AM rate among the alleged news talk stations.

We used to print the Arbitron ratings, but last year a certain brash afternoon sports talker at KCSP was not pleased with his show’s ratings and threatened to report us to Arbitron. We have now provided a link for readers if they want to sign up to see all the ratings.
That’s funny… you were printing demo ratings illegally (as you know), yet it was the “brash” talk show host who ruined it? That’s funny.
Your shot at the brash host, also has nothing to do with the fact you support KC Sports and Fitness, which is also a partner with WHB?

You can still print the 6+ numbers, Arbitron releases them to everyone. Nothing illegal there.
It’s just the fact that you know that putting out those numbers has nothing to do with actual business. No client of yours or anyone’s take’s stock in 6+ numbers.
Btw, you’re using SHARE numbers, which nobody besides programmers use. Sales (er go Business) care about AQH ratings.
You might want to explain to your readership that you are using SHARE NUMBERS.. nobody refers to those as ratings.

Now that Arbitron will only provide public numbers to paying customers there is no way to show how far behind sports talk station KCSP is to WHB.
