As the Kansas City Star continues to reduce its editorial staff on a near-weekly basis, readers are starting to see some unique errors pop up in the area’s leading newspaper.
As an example, on the front Sports Daily section on Monday’s Star it highlighted that golfer Bill Haas sank a dramatic “45-yard” birdie putt to capture the Northern Trust Open golf title.
It was a long putt. And it was dramatic. But the putt wasn’t nearly half the length of a football field.
The McClatchy-owned paper had to print a correction and admit the putt was 45 feet, not 45 yards.

I noticed they called the Baylor hoops star “Brittney Grider” on Sports P1 the other day, then correctly “Brittney Griner” on the inside page.
