These are tough times for anyone putting out a newspaper or magazine, but “Kansas City Sports & Fitness” magazine has achieved a major milestone.
The monthly publication will celebrate its 15th anniversary this month with a special “March Madness” issue (LINK). It’s available at more than 700 locations across Kansas City and its readership is around 70,000 each month.
In the 15 years of its existence there have been three owners, with current publisher Steve Fisch having the longest tenure at six years.
Fisch has put together a strong journalistic team under long-time editor Alan Eskew: Charles Redfield, Jim Potoski, Art Still, James Peuster, Marc Bowman, Dave Borchardt, Nick McCabe, Dr. Lynn McIntosh, David Smale, David Garfield and Greg Pryor. (BLC’s John Landsberg has written a monthly column for about 10 years now. See KC Sports Tab)
“I couldn’t have done it without all the great writers contributing each month,” says the modest Fisch.

Hey Dana, I’m looking into extending these comparisons to include Medifast, Weight Watchers and some of the other bigger names pretty soon.
