KC SCHOOLS EDIT KSHB VIDEO

As reported here yesterday, KSHB investigative reporter Ryan Kath delivered a blockbuster investigative story about the Kansas City Schools reportedly awarding a major contract under questionable circumstances.

In fact, the District PR staffers were so worried about Kath’s story that they preemptively issued a news release trying to refute it before it even aired. In the release the District promised it would show Kath’s interview with school officials in its entirety that it had taped and it would poke holes in his story.

The District lied. And Kath caught them at it.

Kath has done a follow-up story tonight reporting that the District selectively edited out more than eight minutes of the 40-minute interview. Of course, the edited portion contained some of the most damaging evidence about the way the contract was awarded.

The School District now has successfully managed to receive two black eyes over the incident: 1, for the way it originally awarded the multi-million dollar contract, and now, 2, for not being honest about how it was going to run Kath’s interview in its entirety.

Incidentally, the school district is advertising for an opening for a PR person. It should move quickly and hire someone…
