The New York Times has done an in-depth story highlighting former Kansas City Star columnist Joe Posnanski and the behind-the-scenes account of him writing a biography about the late legendary Penn State football coach Joe Paterno.
“Indeed, Posnanski promised, his proposed biography would be nothing less than “the most amazing football story ever told,” wrote NYT reporter Noam Cohen in the Sunday edition.
“Posnanski’s pitch worked. Paterno agreed, and Simon & Schuster paid Posnanski a reported $750,000 advance to produce the biography.”
Posnanski, who recently resigned from his latest position with Sports Illustrated, refused to talk with Cohen about the book.
In January he was named “Sportswriter of the Year.”
