Award-winning journalist Larry Hatteberg, a staple in Kansas television for nearly 50 years, will be the keynote speaker at the 25th annual Heart of America award banquet by the Kansas City Press Club.
This year’s banquet will be held in the Muehlebach Lobby of the Downtown Marriott Hotel, 1213 Wyandotte St. in downtown Kansas City.
A native Kansan, Hatteberg grew up in Winfield and has worked at KAKE-TV in Wichita since 1963 in virtually every position in the newsroom. He currently co-anchors the 5 p.m. newscast.
His “Hatteberg’s People” series has capitalized on Hatteberg’s ability to communicate visually and let his subjects tell their stories.
He has won hundreds of awards and has inspired thousands of other journalists with his work and through his teaching at the National Press Photographers’ annual News Video Workshop.
Hatteberg will help honor others’ work as the Press Club hands out plaques and certificates in the 25th Heart of America Awards.
