It’s quite a switch, but James Hart, longtime crime reporter at the Kansas City Star during a career spanning nearly 13 1/2 years, recently took a new position as managing editor at Thinking Bigger Business Media, Inc. in Mission.
Hart says he was not caught up in the Star’s rounds of layoffs and left on his own accord for a new challenge.
“The opportunity to work at Thinking Bigger Business presented itself, and I wanted to try something a little different,” Hart told Bottom Line.
“It’s been going really well. I still subscribe to the Star and wish everybody there the best.”
Hart, who wrote the Star’s popular “Crime Scene Blog” for years, will now focus on business news in the greater Kansas City area in his new post.
He is a 1998 journalism graduate from Truman State University and joined the McClatchy-owned newspaper that same year.
