The crew at Fox 4 in the morning seems to have done just about everything in the years they have been together.
Today marked a new first as veteran anchor Mark Alford renewed his wedding vows with his wife, Leslie, live on the air on Valentine’s Day during the 9 a.m. hour.
The pair have been married 23 years.
Former Kansas City Chief running back Tony Richardson officiated at the ceremony.
The secret to a successful marriage, according to Alford?
“Try not to always think of yourself,” he said as he got a little emotional. “And try to put the other person first.”
“I’d say lots of counseling,” noted Leslie. “Counseling is a good thing.”

The correct name of the holiday is St. Valentines Day. Yes, I know no one says, “Saint,” anymore.
I think “renewing” wedding vows is just an excuse to play dress-up. After all, since marriage is supposed to be for life, wedding vows don’t expire or need to be renewed. Regardless, I’m glad WDAF had time on its “news” show to bring us this exciting news story.
