Let’s face it, after doing the weather for 20 years at WDAF-FOX4 (and for nine years before that at KCTV) Chief Meteorologist Mike Thompson has pretty much seen it all.
So when he began his forecast for the 10 p.m. news (3/21) and learned the batteries for his mic were dead and his forecast was silent it didn’t fluster him a bit.
The studio crew scrambled to find Thompson a backup pack while Thompson simply joked about the situation.
“These new mics eat batteries for lunch,” Thompson told TVSpy today, explaining that the mishap was caused by dead batteries. “The new digital age is not as forgiving at times as the old analog stuff. Live TV…gotta love it!”











Isn’t that why you see most most anchors wearing two mics, so if the battery goes on one, the other still functions?
