Michael Scott
In the annals of Kansas City television history, there probably was no bigger rise—and fall—than the career of Michael Scott.
That fall has continued with the news that Scott, who is now selling shoes at a mall, was arrested for domestic violence in Omaha.
The area’s top blogger, Tony Botello at tonyskansascity.com, first reported it locally.
“His estranged girlfriend - a 38-year-old Omaha woman originally from Los Angeles - alleged that Scott choked her, hit her in the eye, ripped off two of her fake fingernails and told her “tonight was the night I was going to die like O.J. & Nicole,’” reported Omaha.com. “Scott, 58, was in the Douglas County Jail on Thursday.”
Scott’s 30-year train-wreck of a broadcasting career finally come to an end in 2008 at WAAY-TV in Huntsville, Alabama, after he reportedly used the N-word towards a producer.
Scott (mug shot below) joined KCTV in 2004 as one of the CBS affiliate’s prime anchors and was promptly let go in 2006 without explanation. He then headed to WAAY.
Rumors of sexual impropriety have followed Scott during his entire career. In fact, when he joined KCTV an anchor who didn’t get the job was reportedly told by his agent, “Don’t worry, Scott will be fired within a few years.” He was and the anchor joined KCTV.
Scott, who could be both affable and arrogant, previously worked in Los Angeles, Dallas, Denver, Omaha and Charlotte before Kansas City and Huntsville. At one point in his career he was even a Congressional candidate.
Prior to this incident, Scott’s was perhaps best known for “the attack of the gecko.” He was interviewing a snake wrangler on the air in 2002 for KAXS-TV, the NBC-affiliate in Dallas-Fort Worth, when a gecko lizard jumped on him from a nearby table.
He screamed, yelled an expletive and has been immortalized on YouTube (below).

SAD TO HEAR ABOUT MICHAEL’S ISSUES
This is very sad to hear all around, especially when a man allegedly abuses a woman. Unacceptable! There is NO excuse for putting a hand on a woman. Period. On a side note, I knew him as an acquaintance while in the Omaha news business. He was very talented. Polished on air. Excellent Anchor/Reporter. No, I would not describe his career as a train wreck. Arrogant? Yes. But you have to be highly confident to be successful on air.!
Now the “n” word, calling someone that derogatory name is poor judgment . Firing made sense. Still, in that regard people make mistakes, and should be given another chance. It was sad to hear he is selling shoes at a department store, what a complete waste of talent! Finally and most importantly, I hope that the girlfriend, reportedly injured both emotionally and physically at the hands of Scott gets the help she needs. Ditto to Michael Scott.
ONCE AN ASSH*LE…
I worked with him at KETV. Once and assh*le, always an assh*le!
LA-LA LAND
Oh, well, it’s just another day in la-la-land.
ALWAYS DISLIKED HIM
Selling shoes….hmmmmm. Good place to run your hand up a skirt if your a pervert like Scott. Always disliked him here. He struck me as being a evil MFer. Guess that feeling was founded…..
BTW….Susan — Omaha…..foxy babe.. love to hit it with you !
TURN THIS INTO A DATING SITE…
John L., is there any way we can get John C. of KC hooked up with Susan of Omaha? Perhaps it could be arranged for them to meet at a certain shoe store in the Big O. And who knows, if they hit it (off) with each other, you could run a dating service as a sideline to PR. Hey, these two could be a really good “fit” for each other, but since Mr. Scott is the one who’s selling shoes these days, we’d probably better let him decide, right?
CONFUSED
I am not sure. i dont understand your comments with my name mentioned. I dont condone abuse of women. I commented `cause It is just a sad case overall. Rise and fall of talent.
I am confused, perhaps I should not have given my thoughts overall! 2 minutes after I gave my opinion here about this sad case, I received an email from allegedly john C. Using the moniker [email protected], Saying “mmmmmmmm. Foxy S—-.” Additionally, Kindly, Mr Nichols,
Susan, I have removed your last name and email address from posts. As Rick noted, I don’t think I want this site to be some sort of weird dating or stalker site. -JL
Thank you JL!!!!!
