Award-winning photojournalist Todd Feeback will be leaving the Kansas City Star after about 10 years to assume new duties at public TV station KCPT, according to an internal Star memo obtained exclusively by Bottom Line Communications.

His last day at the McClatchy-owned newspaper will be April 12, and he will start at KCPT as a multimedia producer on April 22.

Feeback joined the Star in 1998 as a photojournalist in the newspaper’s Johnson County Bureau until 2001. He was then rehired as a video journalist in 2006 and was named the Star’s Photo Editor of the Year in 2010.

“Todd was at the forefront of establishing video onto Kansascity.com and he worked hard to forge the concepts, principles and workflow for managing video,” wrote assistant managing editor/photo Joe Ledford in the memo.

“Todd’s multi-tasking ability to cover the Night Photo Editing position and fill in for other staff members was much appreciated. Todd could cover the news, or KU basketball, on a moment’s notice because he was ready for anything at any time. He made a difference for the photo department and The Kansas City Star.”

Feeback helped the Star win a McClatchy President’s Award in 2007, and another one for the newspaper’s Joplin tornado coverage. He also helped the paper win a Clarion Award in 2012 for Joplin coverage and has captured numerous individual awards during his career.

“His video stories touched many hearts and minds over the years,” added Ledford. “He will be missed in the photo department and in the newsroom.”
