You don’t see his byline on stories very much, but Kansas City Star sports reporter Rustin Dodd is an excellent journalist.

It’s obvious why Dodd won first place in the Sports Writing category of the prestigious national William Randolph Hearst Writing Foundation Awards competition as a senior at the University of Kansas in 2009.
