Anyone else think 2013 may have a been a banner year in recorded history for media screw-ups? The excellent compilation below gives a hilarious overview of some of the highlights.

You might be able to glean from these flubs that:

1. Many of the bloopers are from the younger demographic that TV stations are hiring these days. A.J. Clemente leads the field in that category by debuting on a North Dakota news station by promptly cursing a blue streak.

2. The stories are increasingly more featurish and not what purists would call “real” news. The chatter among anchors is ripe for ad libs—-and screw-ups.

3. The compilation (immediately below) omitted what we consider the biggest media blooper of the year—or maybe any other year. That was the famous reading of the crew of the Asiana plane that crashed in San Francisco (below).
