KCSP 610 Sports Radio will unveil a new sports talk show from 2-6 p.m. called “The Big Show” hosted by the trio of Josh Vernier, Jayice Pearson and Jay Binkley.
The new show will debut Monday (6/11) fill the time slot vacated by host Nick Wright, who recently left KCSP for a new morning talk show position in Houston.
Vernier (in photo) will be reunited in Kansas City with 610 Sports Director Ryan Maguire, who hired him at Sports Radio 1250 WSSP in Milwaukee. Since 2008 Vernier has been the lead host of the weekday afternoon show at WSSP where it was voted the “Best Afternoon Show” in 2010 by t he Wisconsin Association of Broadcasters.
Former Chiefs defensive back Pearson will bring a wealth of local and national experience to The Big Show. Following his eight-year NFL playing career, Pearson became a television broadcaster, working for the NFL on Fox from 2003-08. He currently calls college football games for Fox Sports Net and has worked as a Chiefs analyst for 610 Sports Radio the last two seasons.
Binkley comes to 610 Sports from cross-town rival Sports Radio 810 WHB, where he served as host of the popular evening show “3 Guys in a Garage.” Binkley was also heard on WHB’s Royals post game shows, Chiefs Night and College Basketball Gameday.
“We’re excited to add ‘The Big Show’ to our live and local weekday lineup,” said Maguire. “We feel that we’ve created a fresh and very unique show that show that will give listeners the kind of entertaining and informative experience they’ve come to expect from us.”
Wright, who was a lightning rod for controversy during his tenure at 610 Sports, is blasting Maguire via Twitter for hiring Vernier as his replacement and firing Mark Carman, his producer, and his board operator Jared Carter. Ironically, Maguire hired Wright straight out of college.
