Larry Seward
09-30-2011
KSHB'S SEWARD HEADING TO KHOU IN HOUSTON
Reporter Larry Seward, who joined KSHB NBC Action News in April 2005, will be leaving the Kansas City affiliate for a new position with KHOU-TV in Houston, according to Randy Thurman, creative services director at the station.
He reportedly will start at the CBS affiliate on November 7.
Seward said his job at KHOU will be basically the same as it was at KSHB, but will provide some new challenges that he needs.
"I love Kansas City. I have great friends whom I dearly love in this town," he told Bottom Line. "My colleagues at KSHB helped raise me professionally. I'll always cherish the opportunities that place provided. However, this new job is the kind of challenge I need."
KHOU, which launched the career of Dan Rather and several other reporters who went on to national networks, is currently second in the ratings in the Houston market to rival KTRK.
Seward came to KSHB from a two-year stint in South Carolina in the Florence-Myrtle Beach area.  Prior to than he worked as as producer, reporter, anchor and assistant sports director for WOUB-TV in Athens, Ohio.  He also spent a few months as a field producer for WCPO-TV in Cincinnati.
He is graduate of Ohio University's prestigious E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.
