It takes a lifetime to build a reputation and only a few seconds to destroy one.

10-17-2011 'WILD BILL' EXITS AND 'HATED' NEW YORK LAWYER ENTERS IRWIN CASE Just when it seems as if things could not possibly get stranger in the missing baby Lisa Irwin case, the family has now brought in a New York lawyer Joe Tacopina who has been called "the most hated lawyer in New York" in an article in the New York Post. With the arrival of Tacopina, 42, whose fee is $750 an hour and is being paid by an anonymous client, New York investigator "Wild Bill" Stanton announced he will be departing the scene. "I have completed what I came here to do," announced Stanton, who originally said he came to Kansas City to help solve the case. And now Tacopina is on the scene as the mother's story seemingly changes on a regular basis. Some have speculated that she no longer needs an investigator to find her child, but a lawyer to represent her. On his biography on his law firm's Web site Tacopina highlights his media exposure. "He can regularly be seen on MSNBC, CNBC, NBC, ABC, Fox News, CNN, Court TV, and even occasionally had taken his licks on “Imus in the Morning”." "He's slick, he's got a big ego, and he'll represent any scumbag," said a prosecutor about Tacopina, who is notorious for getting acquittals for a variety of individuals who seemed guilty. In a news conference today covered live by all TV stations in Kansas City (except FOX4), Tacopina stood in front of the baby's parents and did his level best to evade most media questions. Veteran local media professionals such as Bill Grady at NewsRadio 980 KMBZ radio and Micheal Mahoney tried to ask questions and were clearly frustrated with the answers they were receiving. Grady noted that the family has shut out the local media which could be very helpful in finding the missing baby. Tacopina responded by saying that the decision to only do national media interviews was likely made because the local media will simply have to follow the national media's lead. Unfortunately, that has been the case where KMBC has claimed "exclusives" where the information actually came from the ABC Network, not its own staffers. "This is what this case has turned into," said an obviously frustrated Mahoney concluding his report on the 30-minute press conference held by Tacopina.
10-17-2011 EGOMANIACS GALORE
"Love your article on this afternoon's circus! Stanton and the new guy are total egomaniacs! "This has turned into a circus! That Wild Bill guy is a piece of work! First thing he talked about – himself! Did he really accomplish anything this week – no!"
RINGLING BROS. "The parents should let the KCPD do its job and let Ringling Bros tend to the elephants. It is getting rather bizarre, "Oh, by they way, I was drunk and probably passed out."…. The focus should be on the missing baby.. nothing else." --David Remley
