Laura Thornquist, who was hired and fired by Kansas City's CBS affiliate KCTV-5 in 2004 in a controversial move, has now joined WDAF-Fox 4 as a reporter, according to the Web site gatewaycityradio.com. She was the morning news anchor at KWGN/TV-2 WB2 in Denver. (Incidentally, Lisa Holbrook , formerly of KSHB-41 in Kansas City, has been the weekend anchor at KWGN since September 2005). Thornquist had been hired to be the weekend morning anchor at KCTV-5 and was in the process of relocating to Kansas City from Denver. However, according to reports, she went back to Denver to sign papers to close her house (on her day off) and was terminated by the news director for leaving town during a sweeps period.
