Summary: WDAF-Fox 4 weekend evening anchor Shelly Slater will be heading to new duties this week at powerful WFAA-TV8 in the larger Dallas-Ft. Worth market. SHELLY SLATER LEAVES FOX4 FOR DALLAS Texas native Shelly Slater, who joined WDAF-TV Fox 4 News in 2004 as a general assignment reporter and was then elevated to weekend anchor, will be departing the station for greener pastures at WFAA-TV8 in Dallas-Ft. Worth. WFAA is an ABC affiliate. WFAA has ranked as the most-watched news station in the Dallas-Fort Worth market for several years. Prior to joining FOX 4, Slater was an anchor/reporter at WSAZ in Charleston, West Virginia. In 2003 she was named the 2003 AP Reporter of the year in West Virginia. Some of her career highlights include reporting on the rescue of Jessica Lynch, sniper shootings in Charleston, and the largest Powerball winner in history. Slater graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is a native of Plano, TX. and is engaged to be married. WFAA is the flagship television station of Belo, which owns top-rated television stations coast to coast in markets including Seattle-Tacoma, Phoenix, New Orleans, Houston, Austin, San Antonio and others.
