The average resident of Kansas City, MO, visits a quick service restaurant
(McDonald's, Subway, Burger King, etc.) six times a month, and goes to a
sit-down restaurant (Applebee's, Friday's, Boston Market, etc.) approximately
3.7 times a month.
Those were the findings of Scarborough
Research, the leading market research firm for identifying the shopping, media
and lifestyle patterns of adults in the United States (5/31).
According to
Scarborough in its national survey, the average adult visits a quick service
restaurant 5.2 times in a given month. The average adult visits a sit-down
restaurant 3.4 times a month.
Residents of
Birmingham, AL, lead the nation in visiting quick service
restaurants 6.5 times in an average month. Louisville, KY (6.4) was second,
followed by Austin, TX (6.3), Memphis, TN (6.3) and Raleigh, NC (6.2) round out
the top five local markets for frequent fast food restaurant patronage.
In the sit-down segment
Orlando, FL is the top local market for restaurant patronage with 4.5 visits
monthly. Cincinnati, OH (4.2), Fort Myers, FL (4.2), Tampa, FL (4.1) and
Atlanta, GA (4.1) complete the top five local markets.
