DAN MARGOLIES DEPARTING KC STAR FOR REUTERS
Veteran Kansas City Star reporter and Legal Affairs columnist Dan Margolies stunned co-workers today when it was announced he will be leaving the newspaper for greener pastures at the Reuters news agency in Washington, D.C. His last day at the Star will be Oct. 23.
Margolies spent 9 years at the Star and 16 years with the Kansas City Business Journal.
When asked to confirm or deny Margolies' departure, "Dollars and Sense" Editor Steve Rosen proved once again that media people are the worst at media relations, "Why should I help you?"
Unfortunately, the Star's Business Editor, Keith Chrostowski, is on mandatory furlough this week.
According to Justin Kendall at the Pitch (LINK), Margolies' new title will be senior correspondent, financial crimes. He will even sometimes travel abroad on international stories,
Margolies is a 1978 graduate of the Boston University School of Law.

GREAT LOSS FOR STAR
"Dan Margolies leaving is a great loss to the Star. He was one of the hardest-working people down there.
"I think one of his greatest attributes was that he was competitive, yet collaborative. If he found out some information for your beat he would want you to know about it. " Former co-worker Julius Karash
