KCTV-5 WINS NOVEMBER SWEEPS!!!

12-12-2007---In what might be a first in Kansas City television history, KMBC-TV9, the local ABC affiliate, and KCTV5, the CBS affiliate, originally finished the November sweeps period in a virtual tie at the all-important 10 p.m. news segment.
However, when you add in the DVR numbers that were computed last week, KCTV is the ratings champ by a scant 1/10th of a rating point.
The DVR numbers are added in seven days behind the overnights (viewers have seven days to watch the show for it to count in the ratings) and the latest numbers show that KCTV5 won the November sweeps in viewers Monday-thru-Friday.
The two stations battled from the start, with KCTV doing a major investigative piece of a Leawood doctor, while KMBC countered by promoting its highly popular "Extreme Makeover" series that was being staged in KCK.
KMBC then did a major piece on child molesters while KCTV finished with an investigation of Johnson County District Attorney Phill Kline. It was the first ratings book since KMBC converted to a High-Definition format.

In other news, KMBC shifted noted reporter Kris Ketz to morning anchor and it resulted in a victory over perennial morning champion WDAF-TVFOX4.  The biggest ratings loser was FOX4, which finished last at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
