10-30-2010 SUN CELEBRATES 60 YEARS Sixty years ago, Stan and Shirley Rose started "The Prairie Scout" community newspaper that 60 years later has evolved into the Johnson County Sun that today is co-published by their son Steve Rose. In a special edition of the paper, Editor Chris Rodgers introduced an interesting historical perspective of the history of the newspaper while Rose wrote a column praising his parents, who he says "were really cool." Rose pointed out the difficulties his parents had competing with the Kansas City Star, which told advertisers "If you advertise with the Roses, you cannot advertise in the Star." Sixty years later the Sun is providing valuable local information to people in its circulation area. Happy Birthday to some dedicated--past and present--- journalists!!
