11-22-2010 UPDATE: STAR'S BARNHART LATE AGAIN... The Kansas City Star's laughable TV critic Aaron Barnhart jumped on the story of Chris Stigall leaving KCMO only four days after it appeared on this site and delivered a pedestrian story without ever actually speaking to Stigall. In fact, his story is written almost word-for-word from the press release issued by CBS. It did give him a chance to take a potshot at Stigall: "On the other hand, it sounds like his political views won't be quite as front-and (um) center as they were at KCMO," he wrote. Barnhart was probably busy researching another in-depth story about Conan O'Brien.

11-18-2010 KCMO'S STIGALL HEADING TO WPHT IN PHILLY KCMO-710 AM morning talk show host Chris Stigall is heading to "The Big Talker 1210" WPHT in Philadelphia to take over morning duties at the CBS-owned station starting on January 3 (NEWS RELEASE). Longtime WPHT morning drive-time guy Michael Smerconish will be giving up the morning shift to focus on his nationally syndicated afternoon show. The station also is dropping national figures Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity in favor of local content, with Smerconish replacing Hannity in a late afternoon and Beck being bumped in the morning by longtime WPHT host Dom Giordano. Stigall will be followed behind the mic by Giordano, who currently works nights, but who will move to the 9 a.m.-noon slot weekdays. For Stigall it is a major move from Kansas City, the nation's 32nd largest radio market, to Philadephia, which is in the eighth spot. (Link to Q&A Bottom Line did with him.) Stigall has hosted morning drive since 2006 at KCMO. At WPHT he will discuss local and national policy, the economy, and the biggest news stories 5:30 a.m.-9. “We searched high and low before offering Chris mornings at WPHT," said Marc Rayfield, senior vice president and market manager at CBS Radio Philadelphia. "He is a bona fide star who can tackle a variety of issues that relate to his audience. Philadelphians have never been shy about sharing their views which will make for some engaging conversations in morning drive.” In addition to hosting morning drive at KCMO, Stigall has been a contributor to CNN and serves as a guest host for the country's top radio talk show hosts including Sen. Fred Thompson, Michael Savage, Lou Dobbs, Rusty Humphries and Jerry Doyle. He also regularly contributes print and on-line columns for publications across the country. His diverse background has also included work as a representative and press assistant to U.S. Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06). Stigall received a degree in broadcasting and journalism from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. During that time he also studied comedy writing and television production as an intern with The Late Show with David Letterman broadcast on the CBS Television Network. Stigall, his wife, Christine, and their three children will relocate to Philadelphia.

WON'T MISS HIM "I for one am not going to miss Chris Stigall at all. His show was amateur at best. He was a shock jock who tried to cause controversy to get ratings. The problem was that he had no knowledge to what he was talking about. "I’m a conservative, but if you listen to his show against another local host like Darla Jaye it’s a difference between night and day. Jaye had knowledge to the topics she is talking about. Jaye tries to get other view points and likes to debate them. "Stigall only had people he agrees with and agrees with him on his show. When there was a contributor who didn’t agree with his view point, he acted like a spoiled brat and dumps him, just look at the Funkhouser incident. "Shows like Stigall work in small markets like Kansas City, but in larger markets people want a little substance with their style. Stigall should ask Jerry Agar about moving his show to a larger market and how well it worked. Maybe in a few years Stigall will move his show to Canada as well."
11-22-2010 WILL MISS STIGALL "I agree with Chris Stigall on practically nothing, but I will miss him a lot!! Every community needs a few conservative journalists like Stigall who are totally, totally unafraid of the Politically Correct Thought Police and a few liberal journalists who are totally, totally unafraid of the Patriotism Police!! That way, neither side gets to "suppress" stories that "are true but should not be true!!" ---Ernest Evans
