BOTTOM LINE EXCLUSIVE

JERRY FOGEL UPBEAT DESPITE HEALTH ISSUES
One of the most popular radio talk show hosts in Kansas City, Jerry Fogel, says he is doing well after four rounds of chemotherapy since being diagnosed with lymphoma in September 2008.
Part of the talented duo of (Mike) Shanin and Fogel for years in Kansas City, Fogel completed his final chemotherapy sessions (each round consists of four infusions three and four week apart) on Friday (11/27). He says the drug Rituxan seems to be effective treating his form of cancer.
"I will say that each day I end up on the right side of the grass is OK by me!" he says with a laugh. "Next up is some heart valve repair and we see the surgeon this week to get his reading on what we can expect.
     "Am I having fun yet?"
Fogel, who still gets together with Shanin as much as possible, says he still misses radio, which started in college in 1953 until his "retirement" in 2001, and would come back "at a moment's notice!"  Included in that period was an acting career in Hollywood where he starred in TV series the "Mothers-n-Law" and "The White Shadow" in addition to guest starring on many more.
His son, Dave, is on Star 102 every morning from 6 until 9 a.m.

Incidentally, Fogel's niece is the Rabbi at Riverdale Synagogue in Riverdale, NY and recently officiated at the funeral of comedian Soupy Sales (Milton Supman).
(Jerry Fogel can be contacted at [email protected].)
