FOX4 ANCHOR JOHN HOLT RECOVERING AFTER SURGERY Veteran FOX4-TV anchor/reporter John Holt---one of the genuinely nice guys in Kansas City media circles--- is recovering from prostate cancer surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center and will on medical leave from three to four weeks. Bottom Line has learned Holt, 51, was diagnosed about six weeks ago with a slow-growing cancer. He had the surgery on Monday and was released Wednesday. Holt, 51, joined FOX4 in 1994 and co-anchors the news at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Holder of journalism and law degrees from the University of Kansas, he also serves as an investigative and special projects reporter. He has won numerous awards including Regional Emmys for investigative and feature reporting, and in 2007 won a Regional Emmy for his anchoring. Media Mix, a media professionals group in Kansas City, has named him its "TV Personality of the Year" in 2000, 2006, and 2008. Holt is a tireless community volunteer and has emceed numerous events. He serves on the boards of Friends of Johnson County Developmental Supports, the Head for the Cure Foundation, and the University of Kansas Alumni Association Kansas City Chapter. He is a member of the Kansas Bar Association Media-Bar Committee, and a Chairman of the Friends of JCDS Board. Holt came to FOX4 from WIBW in Topeka and KSNW-TV in Wichita. He and his wife, Suzy, have two children.
