03-30-2010 STACEY CAMERON JOINS KCTV AS INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER Stacey Cameron, who most recently worked for WRAL-TV in Raleigh, N.C., has joined KCTV5/MyKSMO TV as an investigative reporter, station officials announced today. Holder of a Law degree from Syracuse University, Cameron left the legal profession after five years to pursue a journalism career. He then attended Ohio University and received a Master’s of Science in Broadcast Journalism. “I am very excited to have Stacey join our staff," said Blaise Labbe, news director. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will have great benefit to our investigative team. Having a former attorney as a member of our investigative unit will allow us to expand the types of stories we do.” Cameron has an extensive investigative reporting background, including a four-part investigation in 2007 into the activities of Oklahoma Speaker of the House Lance Cargil, in which the Speaker was eventually forced to resign due to campaign finance and property tax violations. His 2006 investigation of April Wilkins, a woman convicted of murdering her fiancée in Tulsa, Oklahoma, exposed missing evidence and inadequate legal representation, both of which led to her conviction. Cameron took his first job in broadcasting with WCHS-TV in Charleston, West Virginia as a photographer and reporter. He then moved to Oklahoma City where he was the lead nightside reporter on the number one rated late night newscast in the country at KWTV-News 9. He has been recognized by the Oklahoma Associated Press for Best Broadcaster Reporter Portfolio in May 2008, Best Feature Report by the Oklahoma Society of Professional Journalists in March 2008, and Best Continuing Coverage by the West Virginia Associated Press in December 2008.
