ALLISON, MAZE BOTH DEPARTING KSHB
The ongoing revolving door at KSHB Action News in Kansas City seems to continue to spin with the news that Vice President and General Manager Craig Allison is retiring and Assistant News Director Eric Maze will be leaving Kansas City's NBC affiliate for sunny WFTX-TV in Fort Myers.
Allison issued a note to employees below (2/5).
He was named station manager in April 2002.
He joined KSHB in 1994 as general sales manager and later was named director of sales.

Before joining KSHB, Allison was national sales manager for the Scripps television station in Cincinnati, WCPO-TV. He also worked for 11 years at the Scripps station in Tulsa, Okla – KJRH-TV – serving as an account executive and as local and national sales manager.
A graduate of the University of Kansas, Allison began his career as an account executive at KATV-TV in Little Rock, Ark.

Maze is getting a promotion going to News Director in Fort Myers, but it will be a real challenge.
He will be the fifth news director in seven years at WFTX. The previous ND lasted just seven months in the position.
   "
WFTX is a pit," is how one person familiar with the station put it bluntly to Bottom Line."I wish Eric nothing but success. He's going to need all the help he can get."
During his career Maze was a news director in Jefferson City, MO. and also worked in Kirksville.

EMPLOYEE MEMO FROM CRAIG ALLISON, KSHB/KMCI, VP & GM
Everyone,
Within the last month, I have had the good fortune to celebrate both my 55th birthday and 33 years in the television business…..30 of those years with the E. W. Scripps Company.  After much thought and consideration, I believe this is the perfect time for me to transition into the second half of my life.  The list of things I still want to do is growing and it’s time for me to make the change.  So, effective March 5, 2010 I will take early retirement and start working on my list.

It has been a privilege to work for a company as outstanding as Scripps for all these years.  It has also been an honor for me to work alongside so many gifted folks here at KSHB and KMCI for the last 15 years.  You are among the most creative and hard working individuals I have had the pleasure of working with.  I will always value the friendships made here and the victories we have enjoyed together.  I know you will continue to strive for excellence each and every day.  Keep up the great work!

Warmest Regards,

Craig
