KCFX LEADS LATEST RADIO RATINGS; SPORTS TALKERS BOTH SLUMPING

Although it saw its ratings drop from a 7.5 in July to a 7.0 in August, classic rock station KCFX-FM, "The Fox," is still the KC area radio leader in the latest Portable People Meter (PPM) Arbitron ratings.
    The ratings are listed at
http://www.stationratings.com/ratings.asp?market=41.
It should be noted the ratings represent a wide demographic of listeners age 6-plus and provides a good snapshot of overall listenership.  However, for sales purposes stations often break out specific demographics.
Another Cumulus station, KCMO-FM moved into the second spot, increasing from a 5.9 in July to a 6.2 in August. Urban station KPRS landed in third at 5.9.
In sports talk, perennial leader WHB retained its leading position in the market, however, the Union Broadcasting station slumped to a 3.4 rating, its lowest this year, and good for the 17th spot in the KC market.
Rival KCSP finished another dismal month with a slight increase to just 2.8 after three straight months at 2.7.  Its finish was good for the 19th spot in the market.

Both sports talk stations--- combined---have fewer listeners than KCFX.

WILKS?
"It's no surprise to anyone who knows the Broadcasting business that Wilks Broadcasting, the Company that rid themselves of the most and best broadcasters in the city, does not have a Station in the top 5 in the market. This despite three of those Stations, KFKF, KBEQ and KMXV, were former dominant number 1 Stations in the past 5 to 10 years.
"Someone please tell Mr. Wilks he's in the BROADCASTING business and not the real estate or sales business.  Wait a minute, it's too late for that!"
