Summary: We make fun of KCTV5's over-the-top chief meteorologist Katie Horner, but now a local group says she should be fired and is asking folks to sign a petition to that effect. Their thoughts are outlined on the Web site: www.firekatie.com. When it snows she reportedly has "snowgasms," but her actions during a series of storms 2/28 was officially dubbed a "stormgasm." Kris Ketz of KMBC-TV9 came to Horner's defense (3/2) on the "710 KCMO Morning Show" saying how important the weather is to folks and how listeners should "keep in mind no commercials run so the stations are actually losing money." Yes, in some instances no commercials are aired, but in many cases shocking weather reports are used as major ratings boosters for stations and help boost ad rates. Here are some comments on various discussion forums about her performance (and feedback from folks to our site):
Comment: (Jim and Cindy):
Keep up the good work Katie Horner, Lenexa luvs you and we all look forward to
your detailed weather reports. Thanks again for making all our lives
safer here in KC and surrounding areas.
Comment: Thank you
Katie for your concise weather reporting. I have friends and relatives all
over Missouri & Kansas who benefit from your up to the minute and accurate
weather reporting.
KUDOS to you! You keep
us all safe!
Holy f--k, Katie....Telling people to sleep in their basement tonight because of a little rain and possible hail? (5:30 p.m.) I'm headed to my basement, got our helmets on. We're hunkering down for the night, pray for me. GOOD LORD! Now Katie Horner is telling everyone to wear bike helmets while taking shelter. Sounds like she's calling the shots. She just put Pettis County under a Tornado Watch after the National Weather Service took it off. I have my helmet, flak jacket, and support hose at the ready! One of these days Katie Whore-ner will be right
and we'll all be destroyed. But will everyone be immune to her ranting and drama
by that time? I send this from my underground bunker, under a table, with
a mattress and bicycle helmet to protect my head. Is it safe to come out yet? Katie
Tornado is the best. I was watching her last night laughing my fool ass off when
it occurred to me that I am contributing to KCTV's success. It hit me... she's
not a meteorologist, she's a freaking comedian. Good times. Last night. Nice to
see everyone survived. I left my basement this morning when I saw the sun peak
through the window. I expected widespread destruction. God saved us. God bless
Katie Tornado. |
