"Impacting YOUR bottom line..."

Christa Dubill, who graduated from the University of Kansas and got her start in TV as an intern at KSHB-TV41, will return to the NBC affiliate in September as the station's morning news anchor.  She comes from WKOW-TV in Madison, Wisconsin.

Michael Scott, KCTV5 anchor who departed the station earlier this year, has assumed new duties at
WAAY-TV in Huntsville, AL. The latest news is he is scheduled to be featured on
two national TV shows on Tuesday (8/21) for his embarrassing on-air encounter with a gecko in 2002 that has become a YouTube classic.

Former KSHB-TV41 News Director Debbie Bush will assume duties as general manager at WFIE in Evansville, Indiana.  TV turnaround specialist Rick Iler will replace her and try to work his magic at KC's NBC affiliate.

A column in a publication can provide tremendous exposure to a business.  We recently placed this guest column written by Geoff Huber of Triune Financial Partners in the Kansas City Star (8/11).

Elton John will open the new Sprint Center in Kansas City in October.  Can Fred Phelps and his band of protesters from Topeka's Westport Baptist Church be far behind?
Fred Phelps' followers in action.

After 54 years in the historic Lyric Opera facility in downtown Kansas City, the move to a state-of-the-art TV studio is complete for KMBC-TV9 staffers.  The 5 p.m. news on August 23 marked the debut of KC's first High-Definition broadcast.

Not only are the folks at KMBC celebrating their move to a new facility, but the ABC affiliate is also relishing a ratings victory in July.  LINK TO RATINGS.

KMBC anchor Dion Lim

Dion Lim has left WWLP-TV, the NBC affiliate in Springfield, MA., to join KMBC-TV9's weekend morning news team.
Her first day was July 30.

KC-area media folks are chuckling because KSHB's weather wonk Gary Lezak's dog "Breezy" took a chunk out of Star gossip columnist Hearne Christopher's leg
(LINK).  In reality, Lezak and the station should be thanking their lucky stars the dog didn't bite a child during one of his school weather talks.

It looks like there is a shake-up under way at KC's NBC affiliate KSHB-TV41.   Morning anchor Sally Moore's
contract has not been renewed.
Flourish!'s Sechter

Can two publications targeting the same market survive in Kansas City?
It's Flourish! vs. Sparkle!
Former NFL star Conrad Dobler, recently profiled in Kansas City Sports & Fitness magazine, is featured on HBO's "Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel" as an example of how the NFL tosses aside former players.  Dobler says suicide is a possibility.
