    I am pleased to announce the appointment of John Dempsey to Anchor of KMBZ's Morning News. John replaces the retiring Noel Heckerson and will join Co-Anchor Ellen Schenck on Kansas City's most listened to and most respected morning news program.

    John has been a professional broadcaster for 23 years, 20 of them in the Chicago market. His radio resume' includes positions as Writer/Editor/Reporter/Anchor at Chicago's Newsradio 780-WBBM, News Anchor/Chicago City Hall Reporter/Talk Show Host on Chicago's NPR affiliate WBEZ-FM, and Morning News Anchor/Afternoon Drive Co-Host/Weekend Editor at all news WMAQ-AM, also in Chicago.
 

    John has most recently been a General Assignment Reporter on WFLD-TV (Fox) in Chicago.

    John is also a winner of the 1997 Peter Lisagor Award from the Chicago chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, a year in which he was also voted "Best Political Reporter in Chicago" by the readers of New City newspaper.

    He is a graduate of the Radio-Television program at Southern Illinois University. John and his wife are excited to be joining the KMBZ and Entercom family and look forward becoming part of our exciting Kansas City community.

    John's first day will be December 7th, and he will be joining Noel and Ellen through the final weeks of 2005.
