KCTV'S
NEWS NOT MAKING DENT
IN FOX 4 AT 9 P.M.
Several months ago KCTV-5, which owns the WB in Kansas City, decided to start a news program at 9 p.m. to go head-to-head against WDAF-Fox 4.
Fox had the only 9 p.m. news in the market for years. However, KCTV rolled out its main 10 p.m. anchor team of Michael Scott, Karen Fuller and Katie Horner in an attempt to take over the news lot.
The ratings are in and show that KCTV5 has not made much of a dent in the Fox4 news. Overall, KCTV generally gets between a 1-2 rating, while Fox 4 consistently comes in at a 6 or 7. When the Fox 4 lead in is a major hit like American Idol the gap is even wider.
