DION LIM DEPARTING KMBC
Dion Lim, KMBC's uber-perky morning anchor, will be leaving the ABC affiliate effective August 6 for "the next step in her career," according to an internal memo sent today to staffers by News Director Sherrie Brown.
"Dion has contributed to the success of the KMBC/KCWE team and she will be missed," said Brown in the memo which noted Lim had resigned.
Lim joined the KMBC 9 News team in July 2007 and anchored KMBC 9's "FirstNews" weekdays from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on KCWE.
She came to KMBC from the NBC affiliate in Springfield, MA, where she was a general assignment reporter.  Prior to reporting, Lim worked in the newsroom of the FOX affiliate in Hartford, CT.
She was the recipient of a Society of Professional Journalists' award for feature writing, and was named Kansas City's "Best Morning News Anchor 2008" by Pitch Magazine.
Lim's most notable story at KMBC may have been one where she participated in the "Running of the Brides" at Filene's basement
