    SUMMARY: Sometimes good guys do finish first!!  David Lawrence has achieved a major milestone by being the morning radio man on WDAF for 25 years.

WDAF'S DAVID LAWRENCE ON-AIR FOR 25 YEARS

    David Lawrence of WDAF has reached a radio milestone achieved by very few broadcasters in the nation:  He has been the morning man with WDAF (FM 106.5) for 25 years, currently as the lead broadcaster with Karen Carson from 5:30 to 10 a.m. on the "David Lawrence and the Wake-Up Crew" show.

    Ironically, he missed his first night on the air on December 20, 1973 due to a blizzard, but hasn't even been late since then.   He's outlasted seven general managers and six program directors during that time. 

    According to station information, Lawrence  was raised  in Arvada, Colorado. He graduated from Regis College in Denver in 1966 with a degree in Education, but after discovering that elementary school teaching was not his calling, he joined the Navy to keep from getting drafted.

He enjoyed six years as an Air Intelligence Officer, but got bit by the radio bug while on his second cruise of the Mediterranean.  He worked six months in Denver radio before moving to Kansas City.
